There was a scary moment Saturday during the Louisiana-Monroe game against Southern Mississippi when an apparent Louisiana-Monroe staff member was carted off after a player was tackled into him on the sideline.
Southern Miss quarterback Billy Wiles was scrambling and was tackled into the Louisiana-Monroe sideline, taking out the person in the process. The person was treated for several minutes on the sideline before being carted off.
It wasn't immediately clear who the staffer is or what injury he incurred, but he did offer a thumbs-up on his way off the field. Southern Miss football SID Jack Duggan confirmed to Sam Sklar of the Hattiesburg American, part of the USA TODAY Network, that the staffer was transported to a nearby hospital but is otherwise OK.
Many Louisiana-Monroe players took a knee on the field as the staffer was treated.
Southern Mississippi would win the game 24-7 for its second win of the season.
