Tori Spelling’s sibling rivalry with Randy Spelling during their younger years once reached a tipping point.
The kids of the late Aaron Spelling and Candy Spelling, 78, are six years apart in age, and that gap fueled plenty of childhood rifts, including one involving a letter opener.
“I think people from the outside perspective probably think there’s nothing relatable about our childhood,” Tori, 51, said on the latest episode of her misSPELLING podcast on Aug. 13. “We still had the sibling relationship and we still had the fights, the fun times, all of it. There was the time I tried to stab you.”
The Beverly Hills, 90210 star noted that her weapons of choice were “a letter opener and a rock.”
Of course, her younger brother, 45, remembered the moment all too well, saying that when Tori got mad a switch flipped in the actress.
Tori and Randy speculated that they were 14 and 8 or 9 years old, respectively, at the time of the incident. And as Tori explained, she had just started at a new school and had a new set of friends she would call nightly.
“You would always be at the door,” she recalled to her brother, “and you’d always be listening!”
Randy defended himself, noting, “I just wanted attention. That’s so sad.”
The night Tori broke, she recalled going “bat s--t f--king crazy,” saying, “I threw open the door, grabbed my crystal, King Arthur sword in the stone, pulled up my letter opener, and I ran out and tried to stab him.”
Tori later clarified that she “wasn’t going to stab him” but Randy was haunted by “the look" his sister gave him, joking, “Something malfunctions, something takes over.”
Reflecting on the incident, Tori told her brother that the last time she had an episode of rage like that happened with her ex Dean McDermott.
“The final fight Dean and I had,” she shared. “I smashed my baked potato across the kitchen with inhuman strength.”
Tori noted that this fight happened in June 2023 and was the final straw before the former spouses—who share kids Liam McDermott, 17, Stella McDermott, 16, Hattie McDermott, 12, Finn McDermott, 11, and Beau McDermott, 7—split. She has previously discussed the altercation on her podcast, saying the fight led Dean to post that they had split on Instagram before later taking the post down.
Previously claiming the now-sober Canadian chef "had been drinking" at the time of the incident, Tori shared in her March 31 podcast premiere, "He said, 'Ugh, I'm so sick of this. I have been picking up Tori Spelling's s--t for 18 years.' And I f--king lost it.”
Earlier this year, Tori filed for divorce from Dean after nearly 18 years of marriage. For more about their family, read on.
