'Practical Magic' plot
"Practical Magic," based on Alice Hoffman's book of the same name, follows the Owens sisters as they attempt a ritual to break their family's curse: Any man who has loved a women in their family has died as a result.
The movie debuted No. 1 at the U.S. box office with a $13.1 million opening and has since grossed a total of $46.7 million, according to IMDb's Box Office Mojo.
A prequel series based on Hoffman's book "The Rules of Magic" was teased in 2019 after Max bought a pilot, per a Variety report. "Practical Magic" producer Denise Di Novi told UPI in February that the show was no longer in the works.
"There is something else that's going to happen that is still a secret. But, I think the fans are going to be thrilled," Di Novi teased. "It's not 'The Rules of Magic,' which I did develop for television, but it's in the world of 'Practical Magic.'"
Where to stream 'Practical Magic'
