Chad Michael Murray is delivering shirtless content this holiday season.
The first images for Netflix’s upcoming holiday movie, The Merry Gentlemen have dropped and the 43-year-old heartthrob isn’t wearing a shirt in most of them. It all makes sense, as Chad plays a dancer in an all-male revue.
According to Netflix, The Merry Gentlemen centers on a “big-city dancer (Britt Robertson) who stages an all-male, Christmas-themed revue” to save her parents' small-town music venue “and meets a guy with all the right moves” in the process.
As the pics show, the One Tree Hill alum will appear shirtless while wearing suspenders, slacks and a hat. In another image, he appears with the rest of the male dancers in nothing but a pair of jeans and a cowboy hat as he puts his moves on display. Chad isn’t shirtless the whole time, as he’s pictured bundled up in a coat while walking alongside Britt’s character. The film—directed by Peter Sullivan—also stars Marla Sokoloff.
Chad teased the film on Instagram on Oct. 9 writing alongside the pics, “Not your Grandma’s Christmas movie…but if it is…Good for her! Only on @netflix @netflixfilm Nov 20! – Just kidding Grandma can watch too :) #themerrygentlemannetflix #TheMerryGentlemen.”
Chad understands that the film isn’t your typical holiday movie.
“We got to change things up a little bit,” he told Tudum.com. “And push the envelope.”
The Gilmore Girls alum also elaborated more on the upcoming holiday film’s risqué plot.
“This isn't your standard, formatted genre piece for the holidays,” the Freaky Friday star told People. “We're doing a male dance revue, so it's something to get a little hot and bothered under the collar, which is great, but the romance is there, the sparks are flying, we've got some great comedy beats in there that you're going to laugh out loud.”
Chad’s latest holiday role comes after his festive film appearance in 2023’s Christmas on Windmill Way—where he mainly wore a suit—as he played a real estate developer that rekindled his love with a woman who returned to the town to save her family’s bakery after his company threatens to sell it.
The Merry Gentlemen premieres on Netflix Nov. 20.
